…His works are diverse, including (1) the Annals, a poetic chronological record of the history from the Trojan War (1184 BC) to 144 BC, (2) the Theology, which discusses ancient Greek religion from a rationalist point of view, (3) a critical study of geographical and historical references in ancient literary works, (4) commentaries on the works of Epicharmus and Sophron, and (5) a commentary on the ancient language. He is said to have achieved the mastery of Greek mythology with his work entitled The Bookshelf, but the Greek mythology known today under the same title was compiled during the Roman Empire and was not written by him. However, the Greek mythology, which uses the works of ancient poets and writers as material and comprehensively describes the creation of the world, the genealogy of the gods, and the deeds of heroes, is the most detailed prose summary in existence, and some of its basic structure may date back to Apollodorus himself.
