Dry rainy season - Karatsuyu

A lack of rain during the rainy season. It occurs in years with weak rainfall activity along the rainy season front. A dry rainy season is likely to occur in years when the Ogasawara High, which brings clear skies to Japan in midsummer, develops quickly and is dominated by it during the rainy season, or in years when the cool Okhotsk Sea High develops and Japan falls within its range.

梅雨期間中に雨の少ないこと。梅雨前線に沿った降雨活動の弱い年におこる。盛夏期に日本に晴天をもたらす小笠原(おがさわら)高気圧の発達が早く、梅雨期間中からその支配を受けるような年や、反対に冷涼なオホーツク海高気圧が発達し、日本がその圏内に入ってしまうような年は、空梅雨になりやすい。
