Nagashige Asano

Japanese: 浅野長重 - あさのながしげ

1588-1632 A daimyo in the early Edo period.
Born in 1581. The third son of Asano Nagamasa. He served Tokugawa Hidetada and became the lord of Moka Domain in Shimotsuke (Tochigi Prefecture). In 1613, he succeeded his father as the lord of Makabe Domain in Hitachi (Ibaraki Prefecture) as the second head of the Asano family. He distinguished himself in the Siege of Osaka, and was transferred to a fief of 53,500 koku, becoming the first head of the Asano family to become the lord of Kasama Domain in Hitachi. He learned the tea ceremony from Hosokawa Tadaoki. He died on September 3, 1626 at the age of 45.

天正(てんしょう)16年生まれ。浅野長政の3男。徳川秀忠につかえ,下野(しもつけ)(栃木県)真岡(もおか)藩主となり,慶長16年父の隠居地をつぎ常陸(ひたち)(茨城県)真壁(まかべ)藩主浅野家2代となる。大坂の陣で功をたて,5万3500石に加増転封(てんぽう)され常陸笠間(かさま)藩主浅野家初代となった。茶道を細川忠興(ただおき)にまなぶ。寛永9年9月3日死去。45歳。
