This uninhabited island is part of Tokunoshima, located in Amagi Town, Oshima County, Kagoshima Prefecture. It is one of the remote islands given names based on the "Basic Policy on the Preservation and Management of Remote Islands for Ocean Management" formulated by the government's Headquarters for Ocean Policy in 2009.
