Born: July 26, 1030 in Szczepanów [Died] April 11, 1079. Patron saint of Poland in Krakow. The first Polish person to be canonized. Born to a distinguished Polish family, he was educated in Paris and became the bishop of Krakow. However, he aspired to reform church discipline, came into conflict with King Boleslaw II, and criticized the king's immorality. He eventually excommunicated him, leading to his assassination for treason. His feast day is May 7 in Poland, and May 8 in Poland.
