Around 1189 (Bun'ei 5), Shimowasa Manor was established with Tanaka Narikiyo, a shrine official at Iwashimizu Hachiman Shrine, as its lord and Koyasan Zuishin-in as its head temple, so it is sometimes called Kamiwasa Manor (Wasa Kami Manor) to distinguish it from Shimowasa Manor.
