Kamiakasaka Castle

Japanese: 上赤坂城 - かみあかさかじょう

This mountain castle was located in Chihayaakasaka Village, Minamikawachi County, Osaka Prefecture. It is one of the castles built by Kusunoki Masashige in the late Kamakura period. It is a nationally designated historic site. It is said that Kusunoki Masashige built the castle in response to Emperor Godaigo's uprising around 1332 (Genko 2, Shokei 1). Kamiakasaka Castle is made up of Honmaru (main castle) on the west side and Ninomaru (second castle) on the east side, with many enclosures ( kuruwa ) surrounding Honmaru and stretching northwest from Ninomaru. Kusunoki Masashige assigned Hirano Shogen to defend the castle, but in 1333 (Genko 3, Shokei 2), the waterway was cut off by the Kamakura Shogunate army, and the castle fell after 10 days of defense. Currently, the remains of Honmaru and Ninomaru remain, and the remains of the hard moat, moat cutoff, and wooden gates can also be seen. Take a bus from Kawachinagano Station on the Nankai Koya Line or Tondabayashi Station on the Kintetsu Nagano Line and get off at Moriya. ◇It is also called Kusunoki Castle, Ooneda Castle, and Otehon Castle.

大阪府南河内郡千早赤阪村にあった山城(やまじろ)。鎌倉時代末期に楠木正成(くすのきまさしげ)が築城した城の一つ。国指定史跡。1332年（元弘2、正慶1）頃に、後醍醐天皇の挙兵に呼応して、楠木正成が築城したといわれている。上赤坂城は、西側の本丸、東側の二の丸から形成されており、本丸の周囲や二の丸から北西方向に多くの曲輪(くるわ)を連ねている。楠木正成は平野将監(ひらのしょうげん)を配して防衛にあたらせたが、1333年（元弘3、正慶2）、鎌倉幕府軍に水路を断たれ、防戦10日で落城した。現在、本丸・二の丸跡が残り、堅堀、堀切、木戸跡も確認できる。南海高野線河内長野駅または近鉄長野線富田林駅からバス、森屋下車。◇楠木城、大根田(おおねだ)城、大手本城とも呼ばれる。
