According to the Azuma Kagami, on June 4, 1288 (Bun'ji 4), the Chief Middle Counselor Fujiwara Tsunefusa was appointed as the land steward of this manor, and on August 30, 1253 (Kencho 5), Kiyohisa Yajiro Yasuyuki, Kamada Saburo Nyudo Saibutsu, Tsushima Saemonnojo Nakayasu, and Sobeijo Tameyatsu were appointed as magistrates for the construction of the embankment of Shimokawabe Manor. Of these, a large stone monument of Kamada Saibutsu, which is said to have been donated by him, still exists at Senso-ji Temple (Taito-ku, Tokyo). In 1457 (Choroku 1), the Kanto kubo Ashikaga Shigeuji was driven out of Kamakura and entered Koga Castle in Shimokawabe Manor, and was thereafter called the Koga kubo.

…《吾妻鏡》によれば88年(文治4)6月4日に帥中納言藤原経房が当荘の地頭職の沙汰を受け，また1253年(建長5)8月30日には下河辺荘の堤を築くため，その奉行人として清久弥次郎保行，鎌田三郎入道西仏，対馬左衛門尉仲康，宗兵衛尉為泰が任命されたという。このうち鎌田西仏については浅草寺(東京都台東区)に彼が奉納したと伝えられる大型板碑が現存している。1457年(長禄1)には関東公方足利成氏が鎌倉を追われて下河辺荘内の古河城に入り，以降古河公方と呼ばれている。…
