…Italian politician. In 1909, he was appointed president of the Catholic Electoral Union, a national organization of believers, by Pope Pius X. In the general election of 1913, when universal adult male suffrage was introduced, he signed an electoral agreement with the ruling Liberal Party led by G. Giolitti, which required the approval of seven points, including religious education and opposition to divorce, as conditions for its support.
