Toranosuke Kato

...Lord of castle in Kumamoto, Higo during the Azuchi-Momoyama and early Edo periods. Born in Nakamura, Aichi County, Owari Province. Childhood name Yashamaru. After coming of age, he was Toranosuke Kiyomasa. He was from the same hometown as Toyotomi Hideyoshi and was Hideyoshi's personal vassal. One of the Seven Spears of Shizugatake in 83 (Tensho 11). In recognition of his achievements, he was awarded 3,000 koku of land in Kawachi Province and other areas. In 85, he was made head of the shogunate with the rank of Junior Fifth Rank. In 888, he was appointed lord of Gokoku with 195,000 koku of land as a key member of the Korean expedition. In 92, he sent 10,000 troops to the Bunroku Invasion, attacking as far as Orankai (a Jurchen land near the Tumen River) and capturing two Korean princes. ...

…安土桃山･江戸初期の肥後熊本の城主。尾張国愛智郡中村生れ。幼名夜叉丸。元服して虎之助清正。豊臣秀吉と同郷出身で秀吉の子飼いの家臣。83年(天正11)の賤ヶ岳（しずがたけ）七本槍の一人。功により河内国等3000石をあてがわれる。85年従五位下主計頭。88年，朝鮮出兵の主要員として肥後半国19万5000石の領主に任命される。92年文禄の役に1万人出兵し，オランカイ(豆満江近辺の女真族の地)まで攻め，朝鮮2王子を捕縛。…
