Kado - Kado

The former town area in the center of Mitane Town, in the northwest of Akita Prefecture. It is located on the east bank of the Hachirogata reclaimed land. In 1932, the town was incorporated as Shikado Town. In 1955, it merged with Kamiiwakawa Village to become Kotooka Town. In 2006, it merged with Yamamoto Town and Yatsuryu Town to become Mitane Town. The origin of the place name comes from a legend that a herd of deer crossed the water from the Oga Peninsula long ago. 秋田県北西部，三種町中央部の旧町域。八郎潟干拓地の東岸にある。 1932年町制施行し鹿渡町成立。 1955年上岩川村と合体して琴丘町となる。 2006年山本町，八竜町と合体して三種町となった。地名の起源は，昔，男鹿半島からシカの群れが水上を渡ったという伝説による。
