...It is said that the name "okamashi" was also used by the Ashikaga Shogunate, but in Chikuzen Ashiya and Shimotsuke Tenmei, which are said to be the birthplace of kettles, they were called "kanaya" and made pots, kettles, temple bells, and hanging lanterns, but it is thought that it was after the Azuchi-Momoyama period, when Kyoto kettles flourished, that kettles carpenters generally came to be called "kama-shi". In "Kama-shi no Yui" written by Nishimura Michiji in 1700 (Genroku 13), it is written, "1. In the Jōō period, Nishimura Michihito and Nagoshi Yoshimasa were the No. 1 kettle maker in Kyoto. Michihito was the kettle maker for Lord Nobunaga...(omitted)...Yoshimasa was the ancestor of Jōmi Yaemon, the kettle maker for Lord Ieyasu." ...
