Katsuragawa Temple

Katsuragawa Temple

...It belongs to Mudoji Valley in the eastern tower of Enryaku-ji Temple on Mount Hiei. Its formal name is Hokurei-san Sokusho Myoo-in Temple, and it is also called Katsuragawa-ji Temple. It is said to have originated in 859 (Jogan 1), when the Tendai monk Soo sensed the image of Acala during his training at a waterfall on the western slope of the Hira Mountains, carved a statue of the god and built a hall to house it.
