Wind typhoon - wind typhoon

A typhoon that, due to the influence of atmospheric pressure, causes more severe wind damage than damage caused by heavy rain. Generally, they are more common in summer typhoons, but there is no clear definition that distinguishes them from rain typhoons, so the term is used for convenience. Typhoon Toyamaru in 1954 (Showa 29) and Typhoon No. 19 in 1991 (Heisei 3) (sometimes called the "Apple Typhoon" due to the severe damage it caused to apples in Aomori Prefecture) were typical wind typhoons.

気圧配置などの影響で、大雨による被害よりも甚大な風害を及ぼす台風。一般に夏の台風のときに多くみられるが、雨台風と明瞭(めいりょう)に区分けをする定義はなく、便宜的に使われている用語である。1954年（昭和29）の洞爺丸(とうやまる)台風、1991年（平成3）の台風第19号（青森県のリンゴ被害が甚大であったことから「リンゴ台風」とよばれることもある）は、代表的な風台風であった。
