One-eyed Shimizu - Hard Shimizu

Japanese: 片目清水 - かためしみず
One-eyed Shimizu - Hard Shimizu

According to the Oshu Gosannenki, Kagemasa was shot through the left eye by Yasaburo Toriumi, but he did not flinch and immediately shot back an arrow, killing him. It is also said that when his colleague Tametsugu Miura tried to step on Kagemasa's face to remove the arrow, Tametsugu reprimanded him for the rudeness of stepping on a samurai's face and made him apologize. There is a Goryo Shrine dedicated to him in his hometown of Kamakura, where he is affectionately known as Gongoro-san. In the Oshu region, there are many places that tell the legend of the so-called Katame-Shimizu, in which Kagemasa, who injured his eye, bathed in a sacred spring on his way back from the battlefield to heal the wound from the arrow, and the custom of worshiping Kagemasa as a god is widely practiced. The belief in "Mehitotsu Goro" (a boy with one eye) preached by Kunio Yanagita is one in which "Goro" is associated with "Goryo", but according to the Azuma Kagami, from the summer to the fall of 1185 (Bun'ei 1), there were frequent occurrences of divine miracles at Goryo Shrine in Kamakura, and it is known that the shrine's oracles were worshipped by the people.
