Single-edged stone axe

Japanese: 片刃石斧 - かたはせきふ

A polished stone axe with a blade that is angled from only one side, not both sides. There are flat single-edged stone axes with a flat base, gouged stone axes, and small, slender, columnar single-edged stone axes. They are thought to have been used like hand axes or chisels. In Japan, they are one of the wooden tools that were introduced from the continent during the Yayoi culture.

刃部が両面でなく片側のみから傾斜してつけられている磨製石斧。基部が平たい扁平片刃石斧と抉入石斧，また小さく細長い柱状片刃石斧がある。手斧や鑿 (のみ) のようにして用いられたと思われる。日本では弥生文化に伴い，大陸から渡来した木製加工具の一つである。
