In high school, he sang rock and roll and played the guitar, but after dropping out of college and moving to New York, he jumped into the folk song movement that was gaining popularity at the time, and released “Blowin' in the Wind” in 1962, becoming a favorite of the era. This song was widely sung during the civil rights movement, but Dylan himself seemed to dislike being made into a symbol of such a movement, and in 1965 he caused controversy by clearly indicating a change in musical direction with songs such as “Mr. Tambourine Man,” which incorporated a large amount of rock elements. …
