May 30th Movement

Japanese: 五･三〇運動 - ごさんじゅううんどう

An anti-imperialist movement led by workers that erupted in China in 1925. It was the second peak of the anti-imperialist movement after the May Fourth Movement. The Chinese labor movement gradually recovered from the defeat of the February 7 Beijing-Hanan Railway strike in 1923, and gained considerable ground, as seen in the strike at the Japanese-owned Chinese Spinning Mill in Shanghai and Qingdao in February 1925, and the establishment of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions in Guangzhou in May. In May, worker Gu Zhenghong was killed in a dispute at the Shanghai-owned Chinese Spinning Mill, and three students were arrested at his memorial service.

1925年に中国で爆発した労働者を主力とする反帝国主義運動。五･四運動につぐ反帝運動の第2のピークである。1923年の二･七京漢鉄道ストライキの敗北からしだいに立ちなおった中国の労働運動は，25年2月の上海･青島（チンタオ）の日本在華紡でのスト，5月の広州での中華全国総工会の成立にみられるように，かなりの地歩をかためるにいたった。5月，上海在華紡のいざこざから労働者顧正紅が殺され，その追悼会で学生3人が逮捕された。
