In 1956, the four villages of Funatsu, Kodachi, Oishi, and Kawaguchi were united to form a town. In November 2003, it merged with Katsuyama Village and Ashiwada Village to form Fujikawaguchiko Town. Lake Kawaguchi is located in the center. The land is barren, covered with lava flows and volcanic ash from Mt. The Funatsu Tainai Tree Mold is a natural monument. It belongs to Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park.
