It is a state in which thoughts seem meaningless and the person is aware of their irrationality, but they constantly pop into one's head regardless of one's will, and cannot be removed even if one tries. In many cases, they are accompanied by a sense of anxiety, and the person consciously feels that they are pathological. Although they are seen in normal people as well, the abnormality lies in the fact that they restrict mental activity and interfere with daily life. Depending on the content of the thoughts, there are suspicions that make one worry whether one's actions have been flawed, prying and questioning that make one feel uneasy until things are cleared up, etc.

無意味と思われ，その不合理性を本人は意識しているが，自己の意志に無関係に絶えず頭に浮かび，除去しようとしても取り除けない状態をいう。多くは不安感を伴い，自覚的にも病的と感じられる。正常者にもみられるが，それが精神的活動を束縛し，日常生活を妨げる点に異常性がある。観念の内容によって，自分の行動に落ち度がなかったかどうか気になる疑惑癖，物事の疑問を解かないと気がすまない詮索癖，質問癖などがある。
