Student Support Association

Japanese: 学徒援護会 - ガクトエンゴカイ

A foundation established for the purpose of providing welfare and support to students. Founded as the Mobilized Student Aid Association during the war, it provided work-related disaster relief and educational guidance to students and pupils mobilised to munitions factories and other places. After changing into the Working Student Aid Association, it was renamed the Student Aid Association in 1947. It has established student counselling centres and student halls in major cities across the country. It also operates student dormitories and student centres, and provides boarding houses, rental rooms and part-time jobs. mediation Mediation In 1989, the center was renamed the Domestic and Foreign Student Center. In 2004, the Japan Scholarship Foundation, the Japan International Education Association, the International Student Association, and the Kansai International Student Association were consolidated and reorganized as the Japan Student Services Organization (JSSO) and the Japan Educational Services and Exchanges Foundation (JEES).

学生の厚生・援護を目的とした財団法人。戦時中に軍需工場などに動員された学生・生徒の業務上の災害救済や教養指導を行う動員学徒援護会として設立。勤労学徒援護会を経て、昭和22年（1947）、学徒援護会に改称。全国の主要都市に学生相談所・学生会館を設置。学生寮・学生センターの運営、下宿・貸間・アルバイトの斡旋あっせんなどの事業を行った。平成元年（1989）内外学生センターに改称。平成16年（2004）、日本育英会・日本国際教育協会・国際学友会・関西国際学友会の事業を整理統合し、独立行政法人日本学生支援機構（JSSO）および財団法人日本国際教育支援協会（JEES）として改組。
