Kagamiita (Noh)

...At the rear of the main stage is a section called the Yokoita (also called the Atoza), and to the left of the Yokoita is a Hashigakari (bridge). The entire stage is made of plain cypress wood, and apart from a pine painting on the Kagamiita (panel) at the back wall of the front, and a bamboo painting on the wall to the right, there is no other decoration. This design is in keeping with the spirit of Noh performance, which expects maximum effect from minimal action.

From the Noh Stage

...The Ato-za has a eaves extending from the roof of the main stage, which, together with the slope of the main roof, helps with the acoustics. The back wall of the Ato-za is paneled with a painting of old pine trees, and this wall surface is called a kagamiita (mirror panel). The other three sides are open, and there is no curtain separating them from the viewing area. ...
