Kalhaa - Karuhana (English spelling)

An Indian historian active in the 12th century. He was the son of Champaka, the chief minister of King Harsha of Kashmir (reigned 1089-1101), and a Shaivite Brahmin. After King Harsha's untimely death, he wrote the chronicle of the ever-changing Kashmiri royal lineage, the Rajatarangini (The Line of Kings) (1150), in eight volumes and 7,826 Sanskrit verses. This historical epic is based on ancient records and inscriptions, and the parts close to the date of its creation convey accurate historical facts, making it a valuable historical document.
