Music Today

... In the 1970s, the "Takemitsu Toru Festival" was held in Paris, London, and other cities. He also served as the music director of the Steel Museum at the World Expo in 1970, and using this experience, he began planning and supervising the contemporary music festival "Music Today" in 1973, introducing new music from Japan and abroad and influencing the younger generation of composers and performers. His works such as "Sound, so that it can be measured against silence" (1971), "Mirror of the trees, mirror of the grassland" (1975), "Sound, words, humans" (1980), and "Quotation of dreams" (1984) raise sharp questions about contemporary Japanese music and culture as a whole. ...
