Aragon Incident

Japanese: アラゴン事件 - あらごんじけん
Aragon Incident

…His eloquent literary talent, mixing humor and lyricism, is fully displayed in works such as the poetry collections "The Fire of Joy" (1920), "Perpetual Motion" (1925), and the novels "Anice or Panorama" (1921) and "A Peasant of Paris" (1926). After joining the Communist Party and meeting Elsa Triolet, Mayakovsky's sister-in-law, he eventually parted ways with Surrealism (the so-called Aragon Affair). He published poetry collections such as "Viva the Urals" (1934) praising the Russian Revolution, and began to publish a series of long novels with the general title "The Real World" in which he advocated Socialist Realism. During World War II, he threw himself into the anti-German resistance movement, and published a succession of masterpieces of resistance poetry, including "A Broken Heart," "Elsa's Eyes," and "The French Rising Trumpet." He was widely revered as a great people's poet who sang of patriotic sentiments in traditional poetic style.
