Grivennik

Japanese: grivennik
Grivennik

[Monetary system]
The metric system has been used for weights and measures since 1918 after the Russian Revolution, but before that, the units shown in the table were used. The currency unit has been consistently 1 ruble = 100 kopeika since the 18th century, but minted copper and silver coins had different names, such as altyn for 3 kopek copper coins, pyatachok for 5 kopek copper coins, and grivennik for 10 kopek silver coins. From 1769, paper money called assignatsiya was issued, but its value continued to fall against the standard silver coins, and in 1812 it was converted to 4 paper money = 1 silver ruble.
