(2) Rotary flat card The fiber mass or wrap opened by the blowing machine is torn apart by a sawtooth garnet wire and the fibers are sent to a cylinder, where they are combed between the sawtooth metallic wire on the surface of the cylinder and the flat card clothing to separate the fibers one by one (impurities and short fibers tend to move to the flat side). The fibers are then transferred onto the metallic wire of the doffer and stripped into a film-like shape by a doffer comb, and squeezed to make a sliver.
