…The uprising of the powerful Wei Chi Huan and others, who were dissatisfied with this, also failed, and Yang Jian became Prime Minister and King of Sui, and in February of the following year, 581, succeeded Emperor Jing and took the throne. He removed the name of Sui from the title of the country, named the era Kaihuang, and appointed his eldest son Yang Yong as crown prince. Although he was not well educated or well-educated, he was worthy of the posthumous name Emperor Wen, and used capable bureaucrats such as Li Delin, Gao Xi, and Su Wei to manage domestic affairs, ushering in an era of prosperity in the era known as the Kaihuang Reign. The most notable achievement of his reign was the annexation of the Southern Dynasties in 589 (the 9th year of Kaihuang), and he worked hard to improve and reform the central and local administrative systems in order to centralize power appropriate to a unified state of the north and south. …
