Sea red - Kaikou

A haiku magazine. It was founded in March 1915 (Taisho 4) by Kawahigashi Hekigoto, merging with Enya Uhei's Jinshishu. It ceased publication in June 1959 (Showa 34) with issue 474. Editing and miscellaneous poems were entrusted to Nakatsuka Ippekirou, who was assisted by Takii Kosaku (Orishiba). In addition to the four already mentioned, the magazine's members included leading writers of the old "Japanese school" such as Ozawa Hekido, Anzai Oukaishi, and Osuga Otsuji, as well as newcomers such as Endo Koharaso and Seno Yoshio. Hekigoto advocated "direct expression" and "fulfilling humanity" and moved towards free verse, but in 1922 he founded the magazine "Heki". Since then, Ippekiro has presided over the magazine and has nurtured the next generation of poets with the motto of "the work comes first".

俳句雑誌。1915年（大正4）3月、河東碧梧桐(かわひがしへきごとう)が主宰し、塩谷鵜平(えんやうへい)の『壬子(じんし)集』を合併して創刊。59年（昭和34）6月、474号をもって終刊。中塚一碧楼(いっぺきろう)に編集と雑詠がゆだねられ、滝井孝作（折柴(せっさい)）がこれを助けた。同人には既出4人のほか、小沢碧童(へきどう)、安斎桜磈子(あんざいおうかいし)、大須賀乙字(おつじ)ら、旧「日本派」の主力作家を網羅し、遠藤古原草、妹尾(せのお)美雄らの新鋭も加えている。碧梧桐は「直接表現」「人間味の充実」を唱え、自由律へ進んだが、1922年『碧(へき)』を創刊。以降、一碧楼が主宰し、「作品第一主義」をモットーに後進を育成した。
