Born in 1406. A member of the Soto sect. He studied under Souki in Kyoto, and then studied under Kaso Shogaku at Ryutai-ji Temple in Mino (Gifu Prefecture), succeeding him in teachings. He established Kensho-ji Temple in Echigo (Niigata Prefecture), and in 1490, when it was destroyed by Oyama Shigenaga, he became the founder of Daichuji Temple in Shimotsuke (Tochigi Prefecture).
