Ontang Gorge

...A tributary of the Yangtze River in the eastern part of Sichuan Province, China. It is about 1,120 km long. It originates in the Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi Province, flows south, joins the Qujiang River and other rivers, and flows into the Yangtze River in Chongqing. It is a fast-flowing river with a large volume of water, carving out the Jiufeng Mountains and other areas, forming the "Little Three Gorges" of the Libi Gorge, Wentang Gorge, and Guanyin Gorge, which are comparable to the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River. There is also a Qing Dynasty "inscription" indicating the flood water level near Hechuan River, north of Chongqing. In peacetime, it is navigable to Shaanxi's Yang County, so it has developed as one of the arteries of Sichuan since the Qin and Han dynasties. [Shoichi Komai]...
