1876‐1924 Turkish nationalist and sociologist. In 1909, after the Young Turk Revolution, he joined the headquarters of the Committee of Union and Progress in Thessaloniki, the core of the revolution, as a representative of his hometown, Diyarbakir. There, together with the literary scholar Ömer Seyfettin and others, he published the magazine Young Pen, promoting linguistic nationalism that aimed to purify and simplify the Turkish language. After the fall of Thessaloniki in the Balkan Wars, he moved to Istanbul with the committee headquarters and joined the magazine Mother Turkey, run by Akçula and others.
