In principle, if the number of words targeted by speech recognition were expanded to several thousand or tens of thousands of words, it would be possible to recognize any Japanese speech, but in practice this is difficult. Therefore, the recognition targets are narrowed down by using rules for the connection between words (usually called grammar).
