Memorial pillar - Memorial

A column is a vertical member that supports the weight of a structure. Even if it does not support weight, a column of a similar shape, such as a memorial column or a circular column, is considered a type of column.

In Japanese architecture, a distinction is made between a single through pillar that connects the first and second floors in a two-story building, and a pipe pillar that stands separately for the first and second floors.
