...A building with bathing facilities where the body is immersed in a bathtub filled with hot water. Temple asset ledgers from the Nara period already contain building names such as greenhouses, greenhouses, and bathhouses, and are thought to have been bathhouses as bathing facilities. These ancient bathhouse buildings no longer remain, but large bathhouses rebuilt after the Kamakura period remain at Todaiji Temple, Horyu-ji Temple, and other temples; Todaiji Temple has a kettle-shaped iron bathtub, while Horyu-ji Temple has a wooden bathtub made of thick planks set in the center.
