Onga Lake

…Located on the west bank of the downstream Onga River, the area is mostly alluvial plain of the Onga River, with a low mountain range running north to south at the western end. The low, humid plain was once an inlet called Onga-gata, but the current farmland was formed through the filling in of the tidal flats and long-term reclamation work. The Kagoshima Main Line and National Route 3 run east to west through the center, and the area is close to Kitakyushu City, so it has been a popular commuter town for the Kitakyushu industrial area since before World War II, and in recent years it has become a commuter town in particular. …
