Japanese: 和玉篇 - わごくへん

A Chinese-Japanese dictionary with character shape classification based on radicals. Three volumes. Also written as "Wa Gyokuhen" and read as "Wa Gyokuhen". Published around the beginning of the Muromachi period, the editor is unknown. Kanji characters are presented as the entry words, with the pronunciation of the characters next to them and the Japanese reading in katakana below. There are many copies and printed versions, and the titles are diverse, including "Wa Gyokuhen", "Dai Ko Eki Kai Gyokuhen", "Henmoku Shidai", and "Onkun Hendate". It is heavily influenced by "Shinsen Jikyo", "Ruiju Myogisho", "Jikyo", and others, especially "Dai Ko Eki Kai Gyokuhen" (compiled by Chen Pengnen). Various revisions were made after its publication, and it is important as a resource for medieval and early modern languages.

部首分類による字形引きの漢和字書。三巻。『倭玉篇』とも書き、「わぎょくへん」とも読む。室町初期ごろの成立で、編者は未詳。漢字を見出し語として掲げ、傍らに字音を、下に和訓を片仮名で示してある。写本、版本の数が多く、書名も『和玉篇』のほか『大広益会玉篇(だいこうえきかいぎょくへん)』『篇目次第(へんもくしだい)』『音訓篇立(おんくんへんだて)』など多様である。『新撰字鏡(しんせんじきょう)』『類聚名義抄(るいじゅうみょうぎしょう)』『字鏡』など、なかでも『大広益会玉篇』（陳彭年(ちんほうねん)編）からの影響が大きい。成立後も種々の改編が行われ、中世語・近世語資料として重要である。
