Mr. Yanagisawa

Japanese: 柳沢氏 - やなぎさわうじ
Mr. Yanagisawa
A fudai daimyo (feudal lord) of the Edo period. He first served the Takeda clan in Kai Province, and later became a vassal of the Tokugawa clan. During his time as Yasutada, he served Tadanaga, the Suruga Dainagon (chief minister of state), the younger brother of Tokugawa Iemitsu, and after Tadanaga was demoted, he became a ronin (masterless samurai), but later served Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, the lord of Tatebayashi Domain in Kozuke Province. Yasutada's son Yoshiyasu followed Tsunayoshi as a shogun and was appointed as a chamberlain. In 1704, he was given Kofu Castle in Kai Province (present-day Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture), was allowed to use the Matsudaira family name, and became the lord of Kofu Domain with a fief of over 150,000 koku. Yoshiyasu's son Yoshisato was transferred to Koriyama Domain in Yamato Province with a fief of over 150,000 koku in 1724, and continued to be the hereditary lord of Koriyama Domain until the Meiji Restoration. →Yoshiyasu Yanagisawa →Related items Kawagoe Domain
