All White Type

…If a man fell off his horse, his heavy armor prevented him from moving freely, so even infantrymen could shoot him to death or capture him with heavy spears with relative ease. The surface of the steel armor was usually polished smooth so that it would shine in the light, which is why it was called the all-white type (Arne Blanc type) armor, but from the end of the 15th century onwards, armor with engraved lines, reliefs and gold and silver inlays appeared. When a technique was developed to increase the strength of the steel by making fine vertical folds without making the material thicker, this type of armor, known as the Maximilian type, became popular, especially from around 1510 to 1530. …
