The literature that has been passed down under the name of Orpheus includes 87 Orphic hymns (a kind of prayer book, mostly written after the 2nd century), the Argonautica (the date of its creation is unknown, but it is from the 4th century onwards, and it is a retelling of the story of the Argo with Orpheus at the center), and the Lytica (an epic poem about the miraculous powers of jewels, the date of its creation is unknown). *Some of the terminology explanations that refer to "Orphic Hymn" are listed below.
