One of the punishments in the Edo period. It was a kind of house arrest that was imposed on both samurai and commoners. According to the "Kujikata Osadamegaki," the punishment was that the victim was not allowed to leave the house and was forced to stay behind bars. 江戸時代の刑罰の一つ。武士，庶民の別なく科せられる一種の軟禁状態におかれる罰で，『公事方御定書』によれば，他出を許さず，戸を建て寄せおくとある。これには百日押込め，五十日押込め，三十日押込めなどがあり，拝領屋敷の質入れ，失火などに対し科せられた。
