Soviet physicist. At the age of nine, he became almost deaf due to an illness, and after self-studying mathematics and physics, he became a middle school teacher. He studied aerodynamics and further investigated rocket theory and technology, establishing the basic theory of rocket space flight. His book "Space Exploration by Rockets" (1898)
