Obi-go

Japanese: 飫肥郷 - おびごう
Obi-go

...A castle town in Hyuga Province (Miyazaki Prefecture). It appears in the Wamyōshō under the name Obi-go, and in the Kenkyū Zudaenchō it appears as a Shimazu manor district with 400 cho of Obi Kita-go and 110 cho of Obi Nan-go. Since the 15th century, it has been a disputed area between the Shimazu and Ito clans, and in 1587 (Tenshō 15) Toyotomi Hideyoshi bestowed the land on Ito Suketaka, who began full-scale development of the castle town.
