Adam style

A style of interior decoration based on the delicate, light and elegant classical style of the late 18th century British architect R. Adam. It is characterized by elaborate colored decoration and shallow stucco decoration, and meticulous attention to every element of the room, from the carpet to the metal fittings. His representative works are the interior decorations of Harewood House, Osterley Park, Kedleston Hall and Kenwood House, all of which were created in the 1760s and 1770s.

18世紀後期イギリスの建築家 R.アダムの繊細，軽快，優雅な古典様式を基本とした室内装飾の様式。彩色装飾の入念な仕上げと，浅いスタッコ装飾をきわだった特色とするほか，カーペットから金具にいたるまで，室内のすべての要素に細心の注意が払われている。代表作はヘアウッド・ハウス，オスタリー・パーク，ケドルストン・ホール，ケンウッド・ハウスの室内装飾で，いずれも 1760年代および 70年代の作である。
