Kouun Ohara

Japanese: 小原光雲 - おはらこううん

1880-1938 A flower arranger from the Taisho to early Showa periods.
Born in December 1880. The eldest son of Ohara Unshin, the first head of the Ohara school. He aspired to be a merchant, but in order to popularize Ohara school Moribana, he succeeded him as the second head of the school in 1916. He worked to develop the Ohara school and establish its organization by training female instructors and devising group teaching methods. He passed away on August 13, 1938. He was 59 years old. He was from Shimane Prefecture. His real name was Koichiro.

明治13年12月生まれ。小原流初代家元小原雲心の長男。商人をこころざすが,小原流盛花(もりばな)の普及のため,大正5年2代家元をつぐ。女性教授者の養成,集団教授法の考案など,小原流の発展と組織の確立につとめた。昭和13年8月13日死去。59歳。島根県出身。本名は光一郎。
