Gold and silver inflow and outflow

...A general term for lawsuits related to monetary claims, such as interest-bearing or unsecured debts, accounts receivable, and other civil lawsuits (public affairs) under the Edo Shogunate Law. The concept is the opposite of honkuji (public affairs), and is also called gold and silver. The Shogunate strongly encouraged settlement (naisai), believing that this type of lawsuit should be resolved mutually according to the will of the parties involved.
