In China, there are many records of climate in the oracle bones of the Shang Dynasty 3,000 years ago. During the Warring States period, bioclimatic observations increased, and after the Han Dynasty, observations of wind, clouds, humidity, precipitation, etc. were made, and the rules of weather changes became known. Regarding wind, in the Shang Dynasty, the east wind was called 'Kyou', the south wind was called 'Bi', the west wind was called 'Yi', and the north wind was called 'Xu', but in the Tang Dynasty's Li Chunfeng's 'Yi Si Zhan', there are 24 names for wind direction, combining the twelve zodiac signs, eight stems, and four hexagram names. In the Western Han Dynasty, there was a wind vane called 'Ken', which was a variation of the 'Sifeng Flag' used to tell the wind direction, and there was also a bronze wind vane, which developed into a wind vane (weather vane), and from the Jin Dynasty onwards, wooden wind vanes were also made.

　中国では3000年前の殷代の甲骨文のなかに気候に関する多くの記録があり，戦国時代には生物気候学的な観察が増加し，漢代以後には風，雲，湿度，降水量などの観測などがなされるようになり，天気の変化の規則が知られるようになった。風については，殷代に東風を（きよう），南風を（び），西風を彝（い），北風を吺（しゆ）とよんだが，唐代の李淳風の《乙巳占》には十二支，八つの干，四つの卦名を組み合わせた24の風向の名称が見える。前漢には，風向を知るための示風旗が変化した俔（けん）とよばれる風向計があり，別に相風銅鳥があって風向計(風見鶏)として発達し，晋代以後には木製の相風鳥も作られた。…
