Jiayuguan Brick Tomb (English: Jiayuguan Brick Tomb)

Japanese: 嘉峪関塼室墓 - かよくかんせんしつぼ（英語表記）Jiā yù guān zhuān shì mù

A group of tombs from the Han, Wei and Jin dynasties stretches over an area of 20km north to south and 3km east to west in the desert about 20km east of Jiayuguan City, Gansu Province, China. Six of the tombs surveyed in 1972-73 and one surveyed in 1977 have painted murals. On the ground, there is a stone enclosure that defines the tomb area, within which several sealed tombs have been built. The tomb passage is long and has a tomb gate decorated with carved bricks, a square brick-built front and middle chamber with a domed ceiling, and a rectangular rear chamber with an arched ceiling. Some have ear chambers in the front chamber, and some have niches. The murals depict one scene per square brick (36cm x 17cm), but there are also large paintings that span several bricks.

中国，甘粛省嘉峪関市の東方約20kmの砂漠中に，南北20km，東西3kmにわたって存在する漢･魏･晋代の墓群。そのうち1972‐73年調査の6基と77年調査の1基に彩色壁画がある。地表には墓域を画す石囲いがあり，中に封土墓が数基築かれている。墓道は長大で，彫塼で飾った墓門，塼築方形でドーム式天井の前･中室，長方形でアーチ式天井の後室をもつ。前室に耳室を設けるほか，壁龕をもつものもある。壁画は方塼(36cm×17cm)1個に1場面を描くが，数個の塼にまたがる大画面もある。
