Kasago - Kasago

Japanese:
Kasago - Kasago

Rakugo. Two go opponents insult each other and end up breaking up on a quarrel. One day, when it continues to rain, one of them misses his opponent and, not having an umbrella, goes out wearing a hat. The opponent also wants to call in, but is embarrassed and sees him pass by. Eventually, someone calls out from inside, and he goes in and gets absorbed in playing go. While raindrops fall on the go board, he says, "No matter how much I wipe them, they keep dripping...Hey, that's no good, don't take off your hat." The original story of this story is "Kono go wa te mise kyou" (No show of hands allowed in this go game) from Tsuyu no Gorobei's Tsuyu ga Hanashi (Tsuyu ga Hanashi) (1691), and it was of the Kamigata (Kamigata) type, but in Tokyo, the rendition by Yanagiya Kosan III is outstanding, and there is also a version by San'yutei Koencho II. It is a unique storytelling technique in which the speaker engages with the listener while showing eye movements, etc.
