Huayang Guozhi (Records of the Kingdom of Huayang)

Japanese: 華陽国志 - かようこくし（英語表記）Huà yáng guó zhì

Written by Chang Qiu during the Eastern Jin Dynasty in China. It describes the history of Huayang (the area south of Mount Huashan, that is, from Sichuan to Yunnan), focusing on famous people from various regions. Chang Qiu had previously served in the Cheng Han government. After the fall of the Later Han dynasty, there was a growing awareness of the uniqueness of local cultures, and works such as "Biographies of Ancient Sages" and "Biographies of Qiyu" were written in various regions. The Records of Huayang can be considered one of those works, focusing on Sichuan. In addition to descriptions of people and landscapes, it is also valuable for recording local myths and legends.

中国，東晋時代，常璩（じようきよ）の著。華陽(華山の南，すなわち四川から雲南にまたがる地域)の歴史を，各地の著名な人物を中心にのべたもの。常璩はさきに成漢政権につかえた。後漢王朝滅亡のあと地方文化の独自性への認識が強まり，各地で《先賢伝》《耆旧（ききゆう）伝》が著されたが，《華陽国志》も，四川を中心としたそうした書物の一つと考えることができる。人物，山水風物についての記述のほか，地方的な神話･伝説が書き留められている点でも貴重。
